the petition of the undernamed inhabitants of the province of Munster, agreed to at a public meeting duly convened on the 13th day of November 1844 in the city of Cork.

Summary:Broadside refers to a petition to the government to establish public educational institutions and provincial colleges in Ireland adapted to meet the intellectual demands of the country. "Wherefore your petitioners humbly pray, that your Honorable house may immediately pass such a legislative measure for establishing Provincial Colleges in Ireland, upon such a foundation as maybe constitute then a "National University", and that Cork, being the most commercial and populous city in the South of Ireland, and possessing already several of the requirements essential for the formation of a collegiate institution, may be selected as the site of a Provincial College in Munster".
