|Main Creator:||Ouseley, Gideon, 1762-1839|
Broadside featuring an open letter dated 15 April, 1833 by Methodist preacher Gideon Ouseley who addresses the Hon. and Rev. priest [George] Spencer, brother to Lord Althorp [John Charles Spencer], son of Earl Spencer [George John Spencer (1758–1834)] on the differences between the Catholic and Protestant faith. First lines read: " ... I have heard of your conversion from being a Protestant minister, to your present office, a priest of Rome and of your arrival in our island for our good, of course! If you will then, as a messenger of truth, please to give a ready reply to what I shall briefly here lay before you, you shall quickly see thousands of us Protestants flocking to your standard, of whom the writer shall be one!".
