Summary: | O'Connor mentions that "[Harold] Tennant said I had given him a difficult job as the Secretary of State [Lord Kitchener] was opposed to arming Irish Volunteers for fear of revolution. I pointed that the more our men were drilled the more they enlisted for the war that they were falling off for the want of rifles, that the rifles in question would be useless for any purpose but drill & so on. He left one saying he would do his best with A [H.H. Asquith]".
