Description: Contains photographs of various locations in Kimberley, South Africa, including a portrait of a group of soldiers with the caption 'Siege of Kimberley' and the De Beers diamond mine, including the west end compound where workers were housed, a conning tower and de Beers village. Also includes photographs of the Kimberley sanatorium, market square, and hospital.

De Beers Mining Company was founded by Cecil Rhodes in 1888 and first began mining diamonds in Kimberley, South Africa. It grew to dominate the diamond industry following consolidation with other mining companies.
