Summary: | Writes "Until I saw Pat's name in the paper on Sunday, I never for one moment thought he was mixed up in this terrible business ... I read in bold print that my own dear Pat had been shot ... How on earth has it all come about? & what awful madness possessed him? Still, whatever I think I know that he was possessed by none but the highest ideals, and my love remains unchanged. To me he is the one & only Pat, the beloved playmate of every happy hour of my childhood". |
