Description: Includes letters to Violet Hamilton from her sister-in-law Lilian Bonham and from [Mrs. Elizabeth] Fletcher, of Straffan, Co. Kildare, and an undated letter to Gerard Hamilton from Denis Dempsey. Letters relate in part to social and family matters but predominantly to the political unrest in Ireland, from the 1916 Rising through to the Civil War period, and describe the experiences of a Foxrock, Dublin resident during the Easter Rising and raids on houses by members of the I.R.A. Also included is an envelope, addressed to Violet Hamilton at Hamwood, stamped 'Censored I.R.A.', and an undated newscutting which describes an I.R.A. attack on a ball in Drogheda which was attended by Free State officers.
