| Summary: | Contains a letter written from Rockville, Darjeeling at the start of the War (both author and recipient are unclear), a copied extract from a letter by Sir Charles Fergusson, Commanding Officer of the 5th Division to his wife concerning the Battle of Le Cateau (August 1914), a letter to Esme McRae (Violet's sister) from Sir George Younghusband and written from The Residency, Aden (July 1915), letters to Violet Hamilton from her brother Bertie and written from H.M.S. Indomitable concerning the Battle of Jutland, a letter to Eva Mary Bell (Violet's sister) from General George MacMunn, concerning the Dardanelles campaign, a letter from Frederick Hamilton to his mother, concering fighting near Shiraz in June 1918, and a letter to Maude Sergeant (Violet's oldest sister), written from Winchester, concerning the celebrations in Winchester following the Armistice.
