Summary:Letters are, for the most part, addressed to the Hamilton's eldest son Charles William Hamilton. Correspondents include Frances Tighe (née Crofton) of Rossana, Co. Wicklow, her husband Daniel Tighe, Henry Tuite of Sonnagh, Co. Westmeath, the Rev. William Wingfield of Abbeyleix, Edward Wilmot Chetwood, A.M. Chetwood, Robert Hamilton of Hawkesbury Mills, Canada, Augustus FitzGerald, 3rd Duke of Leinster, a member of the Stuart family of Dumfries House, a member of the Acheson family of Gosford Castle, Markethill, Co. Also included are letters to condolence to Charles Wiliam Hamilton's sister Caroline Finlay of Corkagh House, Co. Dublin (from G. Notes:Charles William Hamilton (1802-1880) was the eldest child of Charles Hamilton of Hamwood House, Co. Meath and Caroline Hamilton (née Tighe). He succeeded to the family estate of Hamwood following his father's death in 1857, and like his father, served as agent to both the dukes of Leinster and his relative Daniel Tighe of Rossana, Co. Wicklow.
