Description: Contains letters written to Hamilton (some addressed to his Dublin residence in Dominick Street), from family and friends, including Owen B. Cole, written from Northwood House (possibly Northwoods House, Frampton Cotterell, England), his cousin, businessman Robert Hamilton, of Hawkesbury Mills, Canada, his friend Robert Shaw writing from Naples about his travels in France and Italy, and his relative Caroline Hamilton (née Frame), widow of John Hamilton, merchant of Liverpool, concerning financial matters arising from the death of her daughter Mary Anne in 1854.

Also included are letters to Hamilton (and his mother Caroline Hamilton) from Louisa Tighe, of Woodstock, [Elizabeth] Wingfield of the Vicarage, Abbeyleix and [J.T.] Cole of York Crescent, Clifton, Bristol, written on the event of Hamilton's engagement to Letitia Charlotte Armstrong of Mount Heaton, Co. Offaly in April 1841. Hamilton married Letitia Armstrong the following June.
