Summary: | The enteries in the diary span the period 1833-1840; they are sporadic - in some instances he is documenting his thoughts on particular religious ideas but he also recounts his courting of his wife and their marriage and recounts many stories that he came across - in particular the case of a young woman in Inistioge, Kilkenny in 1834 who died as a result of injuries sustained when "a fairy doctor" was called in by her family [to release what they believed was a changeling in her]; whereas the local doctor believed all she required was rest as she had sunstroke. |
