Summary: | Membership card, green lettering printed on green card [with manuscript additions] for The Irish National League featuring the image of a factory at the top of the card and an image of a farmer ploughing a field at the bottom of the card; the image of a blacksmith is featured top right of card, while the man of a man digging is featured at left. Under the words " The Irish National League" is an image of the former Parliament House on College Green [now the Bank of Ireland, College Green]; underneath this is printed: "Union is Strength. Mr. Patrick Deally [or the surname maybe be 'Seally'?] was admitted a member of Belfast branch this 18th day of May 1885. M. O' Leary Hon. Sect.".On verso of card: "The Irish National League. This League has been formed to attain for the Irish People the following objects: 1st. National Self-Government. 2nd. Land Law Reform. 3rd. Local Self- Government. 4th. Extension of the Parliamentary and Municipal Franchises. 5th. The Development and Encouragement of the Labour and Industrial Interests of Ireland". |
