Summary:Playbill advertisting the premiere of George Bernard Shaw's play 'O'Flaherty V.C.' in the Abbey Theatre, Dublin commencing Tuesday, 23 November 1920 at 8.15 pm. 'Seats may now be reserved at booking office.' 'O'Flaherty V.C' was originally written for the Abbey Theatre where it announced for production in November 1915 however it was quickly withdrawn due to circumstances surrounding the war and the possible threat of audiences rioting. The plot of the play concerns Private O'Flaherty who, awarded the Victoria Cross for service in Flanders, returns to Ireland to take part in the WWI recruitment campaign; however he has not informed his mother, a nationalist, that he is in the British army while his girlfriend Teresa Driscoll sees this as a boon and is determined that he secure her a war pension, irrespective of the dangers this involves.
