Summary: | Democratic Party poster [published in the United States during the 1920 Presidential election between Republican candidate Warren G. Harding and the Democratic candidate James M. Cox]. The poster focusses in particular on the subject of self determination for countries seeking independence - highlighting the opinions of both candidates and with particular reference to the Irish question, which is supported by Cox and seemingly opposed by Harding. In this respect the poster attacks the soon to be President of the United States, Harding, criticised for making contradictory remarks about self determination for nations seeking independence, including Ireland. Cox, probably appealing to the Irish-American electorate, openly supported the idea. |
