Summary:Leaflet refers to an appeal for funds for the publication of an Irish language journal. At top of sheet: "Society for the Preservation of the Irish Language, founded 1876. The only Society in Ireland authorized by the Irish Language Congress of August, 1882, to appeal for Funds for the Publication of an Irish Language Journal". At foot of sheet: "9, Kildare-Street, Dublin October, 1882" and signed off by Brian o'Looney, M.R.I.A. [Member of the Royal Irish Academy] and Richard J. O'Duffy, the honorary secretaries. First lines read: "After many years of patient labour and sacrifice in the cause of Ireland's Language, the Society, inaugurated in 1876 for its preservation, guided by the growing interest evinced in its revival, has decided on founding a Journal to aid in the work it then began".
