Accompanied by note: "This proclamation was posted up on the afternoon of the 25th March 1919. The military authorities immediately ordered it to be torn down by the Lord Mayor's police, so that in the evening scarcely a copy was to be found. I was able to secure this rare copy, which I gave to the National Library as a record of the curious proceedings of the government. Alice Stopford Green."
