Each stamp features an illustration and relates a historic event, except for the 1956 stamp which features the Easter lily and has the words 'Ireland unfree shall never be at peace' printed next to it. The years commemorated on stamps: 1867, Allen, Larkin and O'Brien; 1916, Padraig Pearse; 1920, Kevin Barry; 1798, Wolfe Tone; 1803, Robert Emmet; 1848, Thomas Davis; 1848, Fintan Lalor.
