the anti-nation exhibition being held this year in Dublin should be boycotted by the Irish people.

Summary: | Handbill issued to encourage people to boycott the 1907 International Exhibition as it is a "...foreign show, built by foreigners, in the interest of foreigners";"It is designed to crush Irish industries and advertise foreign manufacturers." Illustration at left of handbill depicts Britannia, wearing a helmet and carrying a harp (at the top of which is a man's head, wearing at top hat with a small placard sticking out of it that reads "Rule Brit"). She is seated on a map of Ireland which is covered in parcels, a number of which have the Union Jack flag on them. At her feet three men are kneeling trying to hold parcels - one is a John Bull, wearing a top hat; one is a man wearing a fez, carrying a basket that has 'Turkish Delight' and Russian goods in it; alongisde him [depicted in a racist, anti-semitic caricature] is a Jewish man. The caption for the picture reads: 'Irish Anti-National Exhibition 1907'. Organisations condeming the exhibition are: General Council of Co. Councils, Gaelic League, Sinn Féin League, United Irish League, National Council, Irish organisations in America and Great Britain, Irish Industrial Development Assocations. |
