Summary: | Menu for a St. Patrick's Day dinner, St. Runwald's Club, Colchester, Essex, 17 March 1904 with verse concerning St. Patrick. At top of sheet: St. Patrick: "Holy Mosis! Sure, if it isn't that sacred bhoy Runwald again!" At foot of sheet: " Note about behavin. The gentlemen are politely requested to drink the soup with a spoon, and all the other viands with a fork. By order of the committee". Featuring a cartoon illustration of St. Patrick, who has ascended a ladder - he stares over a wall at a small child [with a halo over his head] who wears a shirt with a shamrock on it - he holds a carving knife and fork. St. Runwald's was a club for professional men, located at this time over Griffin's store in Crouch Street, Colchester, in the borough of Colchester in Essex. |
