Summary:Pearse remarks to Devoy that he "...came out [to the US] on the strength of a single line in a letter of yours to [Bulmer] Hobson. "If Mr. P. comes out" you wrote, "I will do my best for him". You have done your best, and your best was good. I have been more successful than I dared to hope, and I know that the success is mainly due to the fact that you let it be known that you were with me". Pearse ends the letter encourgaing Devoy to "...save as much time as possible to complete your re-collections: try rather to make time to write a history of Fenianism".
