Notes: | This item is held in the Ephemera Department Opening lines of main body of letter reads: 'Having been asked by the United Labourers of Dublin Trade Union to stand as Labour candidate for this Ward, and as the majority of the members of that body live in this ward, and their request has since been endorsed by a large number of other electors I have consented to allow my name to go forward for your suffrages'. Trade Union Representatives' statement reads: 'We the undersigned, having read the programme and outline of policy on which Mr. James Connolly is contesting the Wood Quay Ward, unhesitatingly approve of the same, and recommend our fellow workers to cast their votes in his favour. We have intimate personal acquaintance with Mr. Connolly and are confident that in him the workers will ever have a conscientious and efficient champion'.
