Main Creator: Forbes, Ernest, 1879-1962
Summary:Title and caption in pencil. Caption reads: Carson: "Cheer up, Hotspur! We're not dead yet!" Northumberland: "No! But this loyalist business doesn't seem to go any better than my Bolshy stunt!". Illustration depicts Edward Carson holding his head in his hand, his elbow rests on a table that is covered with a Union Jack tablecloth and there are tears streaming from his eyes. On the other side of the table, Alan Ian Percy, 8th Duke of Northumberland, appearing equally upset, covers his face with his hand. From 1922 until his death in 1930, Alan Percy, 8th Duke of Northumberland financed and directed a right-wing weekly paper 'The Patriot'; antisemitic and anti-communist it published contributions from the likes of Nesta Webster (1876-1980).
