Caption reads: A deputation waits on Sir Hamar and asks when the Irish question is to be settled. When Sir Hamar points out that it will be necessary to find another job for him when peace returns, they are silent. Above is a study of their expressions as they leave.

Unpublished title is handwritten above image and reads: "Homage to the [...] of reprisals".
