Notes: | Shemus was a pseudonym used by Ernest Forbes. Date and title appear in pencil on reverse. A caption that is written under the cartoon and is crossed out, reads " Macready: Did you send that warning to the press my [...] John? Sir John: Yes! Macready: I wonder if you worded it right!". Published caption reads: Macready: We seem to be surrounded, and there's no way out." Anderson: "Precisely, and, demmit, we can't go on hunger-strike."
