Benjamin Disraeli of Carlow was uncle of the British Prime Minister of the same name. He was born in England circa 1770 and operated a successful lottery office in Dublin; by 1800 he was quite wealthy, owning property in Dublin. He lived at Bettyville House, Carlow, where he was appointed High Sheriff in 1810.
