Summary:Fritz Brase(1875-1940) was born near Hanover in Germany. He became a bandmaster in the Imperial German Army and came to Dublin in 1923 to take charge of the new Army School of Music. His No. 1 Army Band gave many performances throughout Ireland and also on the new radio station 2RN, to which it supplied many musicians. Music publisher McCullough [McCullough Piggott] published several of Brase's compositions in the 1920's and 1930's as part of their "Irish Army School of Music" series including his "General Mulcahy March" (held at NLI call number Ir 780 p 23)and his "Irish March"(held at NLI call number Ir 780 p 23).
