Collection comprises of letters to Geoffrey Molyneux Palmer in his capacity as a musician and composer from some of the literary, theatrical and political figures of the day. Correspondents include James Joyce and other members of the Joyce family, Michele Esposito, Douglas Hyde, Henry Grattan Flood, Mrs Sinead de Valera, Lennox Robinson, Sir John O'Connell, and A.P. Graves among others.
Collection is bound in two volumes: MS 5,377 contains letters from some of the literary, theatrical and political figures of the day; MS 5,378 contains letters from James Joyce and others members of the Joyce family.
Geoffrey Molyneux Palmer (1882-1957), musician and composer, was born in England to Irish parents and moved to Ireland in 1910. He wrote and composed many Irish folk songs as well as songs for the operatic stage. He was the first composer to set James Joyce's poems to music.
