The two dialogues in English were originally published together in 1531. A Latin version of the first originally appeared in 1528 as 'Dialogus de fundamentis legum Anglie et de conscientia'.

An enormously popular medieval handbook for legal students, which was not superseded until the appearance of Blackstone's Commentaries. It is important for establishing the relationship between Church and State in English law.
