| Summary: | Mention Dr Fontaine, lectureship in Italian likely to be given to Mr Meiklejohn, flat given up, book was finished on 13 November but there are about 1000 pages of proofs to be corrected, the book does not deal with any of the social, political or economic questions of the day, he has consumed all his substance writing it, Mrs J. suspected that something was wrong, she said he was in a state of exhaustion over closing pages of book, he was more excited during the recent crisis by a gramophone record of a Greek song than by the conflicts raging around him. |
