Summary:Contract is signed, hopes Mr Joyce received the cheque, Léon attended to Boothroyd matter with Reece, will see Wegner about the criticisms of Ulysses to be printed on the inside covers, Miss Beach said that Mr Joyce had been very generous with her, Pomes Penyeach is marked 'out of print', Mr Joyce will receive contracts and memorandum of agreement with Miss Beach, Léon encloses memorandum for the Japanese translation, he saw Mr Holroyd-Reece whose appearance he did not find attractive, Reece's proposal is for a right of first refusal, Reece told Léon that the power behind Albatross was the South-African copper magnate Sir Edmund Davis who was in a position to talk to the government and could secure their promise not to interfere with Ulysses, the only danger was from the Director of Public Prosecutions, they would bring Ulysses out first on the Continent and later in the year in England, Reece would find out from Sir Edmund whether he was willing to risk £5,000 on bringing out the only modern classic, Léon has not read Ulysses but he will, Wegner is the General Manager of Albatross, Léon handed Mr Joyce's kind thoughts from one guichet of the post office to another but they still threaten to cut off Léon's telephone.
