This view from the docks shows two Shannon barges which have been converted for use as homes. Nearest the Quay the Owl, and the Iron Lung. Commercial barge traffic ceased in the 1950's and approx. six barges are currently moored at Athlone and upstream nearby, as homes for families and individuals..
