Summary: | With Three Rock mountain in the background, members of the public bring refuse to dump at Dublin County Council's rapidly filling South Dublin tiphead. Co Council trucks dump elsewhere on the site. Members of the travelling community who have a halting site nearby make a living salvaging scrap from the dump. The dump is said to cover part of the great Pale Ditch of olden times. The facility to remove clorofleurocarbon gases safely was provided a few years ago to reduce damage to the ozone layer of the atmosphere. Other frames show the face of the tip with children scavenging in the refuse. The charge for dumping from a private car is £1.00, with higher rates for larger vehicles. |
