The Dublin County Council Park at Deansgrange has been assembled over many years from many parcels of land. It ws designated as an Open Space in the County Development Plan of 1972, incorporating an old sewage works, open space provision of residential estates, exchange of lands with the adjoining Industrial Estate, and other purchases. Much of the land was sterilised for building by the stream, the sewers, the watermain and power lines. Development started in 1973/74, playing pitches were provided at an early stage, and in the late eighties, tennis courts. It is part of the proposed linear park following the line of Deansgrange stream.
