Research by our Flickr Commons users established this photograph as the ruins of the Deeds, Templar & Co. hosiery factory near Convent Lane in Balbriggan, Co. Dublin. Similar to the better known Burning of Cork, this event was a reprisal by Black and Tans for an earlier IRA attack. Several people were killed and many hundreds put out of their homes and out of work.
