Summary:Johnny O' Brien, Dunbeacon and Jer Crowley, Dunmanway compete in a local bowling tournament. Bowling is one of the traditional sports of rural Ireland now mainly confined to counties Cork and Armagh, particularly south and west Cork. Played with a 28 ounce iron bowl, two players test their skills over approximately two miles of roadway. The winner covers the road in the least number of "shots". Much skill is required to play the bowl particularly on curving roads where corners are "lofted". Sometimes thousands of pounds change hands on stakes and betting. All grades are catered for: Junior, Minor, Senior and Ladies.
