Summary:On June 3rd 1950 there was a Kilmacud and Mt Merrion Parochial Building Fund Fete held at Oatlands Stillorgan. The programme of the fete consisted of horse riding and jumping competitions dances in a marque every night from June 3rd to June 18th 1950. Admission to the dances was two shillings and six old pence. The big abands included the Pembroke Orpheus and Jim Bacon. A very prominent advertisement in the souvenir was Mr Jack Baumanns, which summed up his enterprise. "Whether it's a newspaper, magazine, book, ice cream, stationery, toys, a postcard to send to Aunt Maria, a box of chocs for Cousin Lucy, sweets for the twins you will get it better at Baumanns."
