The Lawrence Photographic Project 1990/1991 was a project where one thousand photographs from the Lawrence Collection in The National Library of Ireland were replicated one hundred years later by a team of volunteer photographers, thereby creating a record of the changing topographyof the selected locations.

The oratory of Saint Finbar is located on the island in the lake, which is connected to the mainland by a footbridge. A forest park has been developed on the slopes of the valley. This valley is where the River Lee originates.
