Summary:Wicklow Golf Club was founded in 1904 at Dunbur to cater for "men and women who had nothing else to do with their time". The land on which the course was originally developed was leased by Mrs Byrne of Chapel Road who sold the lease to Wicklow Golf Club for £500. £50 was then set aside by the incoming commitee for development. In just two years the membership increased to over 150. For 90 years the club managed to provide the golfers of the vicinity with challenging sport but in August 1994 (later this year) the club will prouldy extend its course to 18 holes and look forward with confidence to the new century and continued success .
