Summary: | Neatly tucked in at one end of a large square house, built in 1802 by Nicholas Price, this public house with its attractive original nineteenth century shop front, has been in the hands of the same McRobert family since 1834. At that time, the proprietor was Alexander McRobert, the great-grandfather of the present owner brother, James and Harry McRobert. Of great historical interest is the fact that on this site was built the original Saintfield House, where the Price family lived. It was converted into a 'Commodius Inn' after the family had moved up to the new house in the Demesne around 1755. |
