Summary:"The Broadisland Gathering" on 4th September, 1993, a celebration of the landing of the first Scottish settlers from Stirlingshire. They came over with William Edmonstone in 1609 from Duntreagh and the area around Lough Lomand. He obtained a land grantof over 2,800 acres and settled at Redhall. The Rev Edward Brice from near Duntreagh, came to Broadisland or Ballincarry as it is now known, and in 1613 founded the first Presbyterian Church in Ireland. Here Billy Burns of Larne Drama Circle as the "Laird of Duntreagh", reads the proclaimation to revive the Ballincarry Fair, which was first held in Edmonstone's land.
