Summary:First patented as a Friday market to the Provost of Trinity College, Dublin, in 1759, it is now the busy central hub of commerce in Keady. The monument erected to the memory of William Kirk in 1871, stands centrally at the bottom of Market Street. The monument has recently been reurbihed under the C.R.I.S.P. Environmental Regeneration Programme. Ground levels have been lowered, and public seating, together with cast-iron surrounding and lamp standards have been provided. The monument has traditionally been a focal meeting point.
