Summary:View of the motte at Ballywalter about two miles from Ballyclare looking across the river to Doagh. This Norman motte guarded the river and was one of a number along the Six Mile River. It is 126 metres high with a flat top and is now in one corner of the War Memorial Park. Soldiers from the castle at Carrickfergus reached the River Ollar near this point, a distance of six miles from their base and the river took on a new name.
