A Roman Catholic satire accompanied by illustrations which relates the story of the Pope's concern over the fashion for crinolines, which encumbers women from entering the confessional - "...the Pope understood that no dames and damsels wearing hoops could enter the confessional & receive holy benediction and fatherly advice, and his anguish of mind increased, so he set to work out to cure the evil".
