Research by our Flickr Commons users established that this statue of Bishop John Jebb (1775-1833) was sculpted by Edward Hodges Baily in 1836. At right is a memorial to Major Thomas Summerfield (ca. 1767-1833), commissioned by his fellow officers; and at left is a memorial to George Tierney (merchant, d. 1788), placed by his nephew following a bequest to St. Mary's Cathedral.
