| Notes: | Doonagore (historically Dongore) is in Co. Clare but the spot depicted in the photograph is not far from the border with Galway. The island seen directly behind the castle is Inisheer (hence, possibly, Lawrence's caption 'Arran'). Research by our Flickr Commons users established that Doonagore Castle was fully restored in the 1970s, and is a private home.
