Notes:Letter sent by Elizabeth Rivers in response to a review of Evie Hone's work that was on display in a recent Arts Council Exhibition. Rivers asks "Are the Critics puzzled in their efforts to place the Art of Evie Hone? Who is the gifted amateur and who the professional among artists of note? To mention that she suffered pain from polio could easily be misunderstood - she contacted polio as a child of 12 & recovered painfully & slowly - but she recovered. Though she was lame she had good health & a tough & tireless capacity for work".

Includes a postcard of acknowledgement sent from the offices of "The Listener" in London to Elizabeth Rivers; postmark dated 23 Jan 1959; on verso is typed "The Editor of The Listener acknowledges with thanks receipt fo your letter".
