Description: Letters, covering the period October 1899 to June 1901, relating to Clarke's arrival and progress in New York, his having secured work and abandoning of his lecture tour plans, his attendance at Irish political meetings in New York and Brooklyn and their plans to marry. Reference is also made in passing to the Boer War, Maud Gonne's American lecture tour and his impressions of Major John MacBride.
