Special limited and first illustrated edition of the book, completely revised and reset, published in June 1929 for the American market by The Macmillan Company, New York. Of these 500 copies this is number 432 and is signed by George Moore and Stephen Gooden.Illustrated title page with twelve original copper engravings (nine full-page).

Includes a complete set of thirteen proof copper engraved plates (one of a limited edition of only fifteen sets) in a large original red buckram portfolio, which is lettered in gilt on the upper cover. All proofs are dated 1927 and each plate is signed by Stephen Gooden.

With the original invoice from Bill Fletcher (H.M. Fletcher Rare Books & Prints 27 Cecil Court, Charing Cross Road)dating from 1967, documenting it's sale for seventy five pounds.
