Summary:Postcard featuring the reproduction of an image of Finian Lynch [a black and white portrait of him in his university graduation gown] shot by Keogh Bros. and issued to commemorate the 1916 Easter Rebellion (which took Easter Monday, 24 April 1916). Both postcards are blank on verso. Lynch fought in the 1916 Easter Rising in the Four Courts garrison with Commandant Edward Daly; Daly was executed and Lynch was sentenced to death but this was commuted to 10 years penal servitude. He was imprisoned in Kilmainham Gaol and later in Mountjoy Prison before internment in prison in England and Wales until the general amnesty of 1917.
