John Campbell Gordon (Hamilton-Gordon) (18471934) was the 7th earl of Aberdeen and 1st marquess of Aberdeen and Temair. Although of a Conservative family, Gordon became a firm Liberal and served as Lord Lieutenant of Ireland in 1886 and again 1905-15. Both he and his wife took a keen interest in social welfare.
