It is quite a while since we have had a shot of the many figures who helped shape the country at the birth of the nation. There are some familiar faces on view in this Hogan-Wilson shot from 1922. Including Michael Collins, WT Cosgrove, etc. According to the title these were the supporters of the Treaty - therefore the majority of the Dáil at that time.
With thanks to everyone for their contributions today, it seems that the label here is probably correct, and that these are the Pro-Treaty members of the 2nd Dáil. If so, this image may have been captured in early 1922 (shortly after the treaty vote in January), and captures a pivotal moment in Irish history and politics. Several of those pictured (Collins, Griffith, Hales, Lawless, and McGuinness) would be dead within the year.....

Interesting-how history repeats. I think the Irish potato famine-was caused-by an immigrant to Ireland-then, the very same anti-Catholic religious group-transported survivors to America-and then, refused to hire Irish. America is a nightmare. Cary-Black Irish in name-and illegally Blacklisted-by the Mr. Obama Africans-no work, since: 2008. Mumbai.

My interest is definitely piqued by the description that these are the pro-Treaty faction, because that is definitely Cathal Brugha on the front row extreme right, so either he had not made his mind up at this time (but I think he was a hard liner from the start) or the details are not quite correct, perhaps written in later by someone. There is an almost identical photo from the meeting of the first Dáil in April 1919, which is interesting in that De Valera is, of course, present, but Kevin O'Higgins is standing far to the back, against the wall on the extreme right of the third row from front. I recognise MacNeill second from left of front row, but who is the man with the Charlie Chaplin moustache and the Homburg-type hat standing next to Richard Mulcahy on the extreme left of the second row? Actually, it would be pretty great to have all the names for posterity - I know only a few of them myself.

[https://www.flickr.com/photos/beachcomberaustralia] - Not that there were many of them in the 2nd and 3rd Dáil, but most of the female deputies were anti-treaty (Mary MacSwiney, Kathleen O'Callaghan, etc). Which, if the caption is to be believed, is why they are not pictured.
To [https://www.flickr.com/photos/sam2cents]'s point though, the caption may not be entirely accurate. Or at least misleading (given that it doesn't state that those pictured are exclusively pro-treaty). Of the two fully bearded men, the man further back could be Plunkett (anti) or Cole (pro).

It seems Hogan wasn't the principal photographer here - most of the figures are looking at someone to the left of the frame. The inclusion of the bush in the foreground suggests it was a quick grab shot. He wouldn't have placed it in the foreground had he been the official photographer.
